Remember Me by Charity Norman is a really enjoyable read, an excellent story with characters that really stand out.
Emily relyctantly returns to New Zealand to look after her father who has dementia. She has made a life for her and her son in London and last saw her dad 3 years ago when he was an expert at hiding his illness.
In New Zealand her father Felix is worse than she realised but has been looked after by his close neighbours. These close neighbours have formed strong bonds with Emily's family partly down to the daughter Leah disappearing 25 years ago. Emily was the last to see her before she set out on a hike for a research project and never returned.
Felix's dementia gets steadily worse and Emily is disturbed by comments he makes about Leah's disappearance.
I really enjoyed this book, the story felt very original and the ending was so unexpected. The characters felt so real and it was very well written. I would definitely recommend this book.
