I was a bit sceptical about the story line at firs but as it turned out it is a fantastic read. I have never read any books by this author Charity Norman and if this book is one to go by then her writing is brilliant. her description of the characters make them so real. The story line is heartfelt and disturbing. The book portrays how difficult it is looking after someone with dementia. though this is part of the story it is not all about dementia. twenty five years ago Leath Parata disappears without a trace. nothing was ever found, not a boot, not a backpack, she just vanished from the face of the earth. After years of living overseas Emily returns to New Zealand to care for her father who has dementia. As his memory fades and his guard slips giving up truths and secrets from the past, secrets that Emily rather were kept buried.
