Emily receives a phone call from her fathers neighbour in New Zealand, asking her to come home and look out for her dad Felix for awhile. Felix lives on his own on a large bit of land in a rural part of New Zealand. He has been suffering with the onset of Alzheimer's for a few years now and his neighbour Raewyn believes it is now time for one of his children to step up. Not really wanting to, Emily lives the comfort of her flat in the UK and flies out there. She soon discovers that her fathers illness is much worse than she first thought and although he was not particularly paternal whilst she was growing up, the illness seems to have mellowed him out, and Emily finds that she is getting to know her father all over again. During this time, not only does Felix divulge memories from his childhood but also life changing secrets that have long ago been hidden. What will Emily do with this new information?
