Missy Carmichael is 79 and lonely. She's still mourning the death of her husband, Leo, and reminisces about their life together. Her son, Alistair, and grandson, Arthur, live in Sydney, Australia, and she doesn't see much of her daughter, Melanie, who lives in Cambridge.

She tries to think of exciting things to do, just so she'll have news to tell her son. While in the park one day, she notices a woman called Angela and her young son, Otis, who are talking about the carp electrofishing that's going to take place soon.

A week later, she returns to watch the fish-stunning and meets a lady called Sylvie, who is handing out home-baked croissants. When Missy has a funny turn, Sylvie looks after her.

This sounds a nice, heart-warming and gentle story but one with hidden depths. There's obviously more to be revealed about Missy's family. I'm curious to find out more.

I like the cover too – it's simple but effective and eye catching. I think it suits the story well, especially the main font used.
