This is a story about loneliness, friendship and possibilities. At 79 years old Missy Carmichael is lonely and set in her ways, her husband has died and she rarely sees her children and grandchild. That is until an encounter with Angela and Otis in the park which then brings her in contact with Sylvia an interior designer. When Angela persuades her to look after a dog temporarily Missy has no choice than to talk to the other dog owners. At the same time having a companion to talk to even if it isn't human. Beth Morrey has written this book with such compassion and understanding. The book moves between her life now and her younger years when she met her husband Leo. She reminisces about the good times while looking at how life could have been so different. It shows us how her life has lead to where it is now. Beautifully written it is an emotional wonderful read
