I know that you should never judge a book by it`s cover, but this is what happened when I first saw a picture of this book, I really liked the cover and I decided to read the book for this reason. Maybe this was because it was not a fussy cover , just a picture of an older lady with a dog standing on a path with a bit of grass on either side.
I was actually right to make this decision about reading the book because as soon as I started reading it, I was hooked. It was one of those books that I did not want to put down once I started to read it.
The main character in the story is 79 year old Missy Carmichael who is now living alone and finds herself to be very lonely. Her husband is no longer around and her children are grown up and left home. Missy has one grandchild who she doted on until he went to live in Australia with his mother and father. She recently had a bad falling out with her daughter and she does not think they will ever speak again.
So without much else to do on a cold winter morning, Missy sets out to watch a fish stunning event in her local park. While there, she will meet two women who will become her friends and change her life forever.
