This is a story about Missy ( Millicent) an elderly lady who has become lonely and isolated following the death of her husband. She is largely alone as she has a strained relationship with her daughter and her son lives in Australia so can’t visit often. To cover up her lonely existence, she sends chatty upbeat emails to her son in Australia and in order to give her something to write about she decides to go out if the house.
Here begins her journey to a better place when she accepts an invitation to have a coffee with strangers.
As the story unfolds, we see Missy’s confidence develop through her growing friendships and gradually she begins to move on with her life
Although a bit formulaic at times, it’s an easy feel good read about being non judgmental, keeping your mind and heart open to new beginnings and how new friendships can also impact on and improve existing relationships.
I enjoyed this book, finding it uplifting without being cloying and would recommend it to anyone who likes a nice feel good read.
