I really enjoyed this simple but heartwarming story of Missy, a lonely, elderly lady who lives in London.

Throughout the story, there is a series of insignificant events with the most unlikely characters that slowly see Missy coming out of her shell, gaining confidence and living a more fulfilled life in her twilight years.

The author flips back and forth between the past and the present so we learn about Missy's past which explains some of her confidence issues in the present time.

It presents a story of friendship and kindness but also the other aspects of human emotions, behaviours and foibles including abusive relationships, affairs, clashes between the generations and exploitation which all helps to make this feelgood story feel realistic.

This is a great book for lazy Sunday afternoons, and one which perhaps make you think differently about the people in your community and how a little bit of kindness goes a long way.
