The cover of this lovely book by Beth Morrey about Saving Missy featuring a lovely old lady and a dog felt like perfect reading for a lockdown weekend and it certainly was.

Missy Carmichael is 79 years old in her body, but her mind is still intact and she feels younger than her years most days. However, she lives a small, solitary silent existence in her home full of memories of her dead husband, estranged children, absent friends and this has made her stubborn, self reliant and a bit cantankerous.

However, one day when she has a turn in the park and is recued by a kind dog walker this even turns her life around Whilst looking after Bobby for their owner, she finds a purpose to her days and gets out more, meets people and even finds her smile again.

The book is a lovely light read and is touching and emotional, I really connected with Missy and willed her on to be brave enough to try a new life with an animal friend by her side to comfort her.
