This novel is about Missy a 79 year old women living on her own. At the start of the novel she seems lonely, cranky and set in her ways. However as the novel unfolds you discover more about Missy, her past, present and her hopes for the future.
A chance meeting with a friendly middle aged women and a mum and her young son seems the provide the opportunity for Missy to start living again. Especially when a dog comes into her life, meaning she meets various dogs and their owners in her local park. The novel covers a couple of years in Missy's present day from the age of 78 to 80 .
However intertwined with this is tales from when she was a young girl with her family and her and her husbands relationship.
This all leads to a better understanding of how Missy became what she is and how she changes throughout the novel.
I admit there were a couple of sad parts but overall this is a lovely uplifting read.
I enjoyed reading about Missy and her life, her character was well written and you felt for her throughout. A really good read and highly recommend this book.
