I loved this book, Missy comes so far throughout the course of the story, it's hard to believe it's the same character by the end, and I mean that in a good way.
I have never emphathised so much with a lonely character, being in lockdown has made me acutely aware that so many people are isolated at the best of times, and the way Missy's feelings are described are completely relatable to.
It's a book that like the main character you have to be patient with at times while the transformation happens, some of it was hard to read and I had a good cry at points. Second chances don't come easy and you need a lot of support from friends and family, and the relationships that develop through the story are really beautiful, I thought Sylvie was going to be the predominant side character and so I was surprised when Angela took more of the forefront as I really didn't like her at first, but like Missy she has a journey to go through and seeing how both characters grow and make it through together is really heart-warming. The ending is perfect, very reminiscent of "It's a Wonderful Life" and the little story she tells at the end that lays it all out was a really nice touch.
