The writing in this book was absolutely fabulous, however I did find that it took me a little while to get into it, as it was a slow start. This is a nice relaxing book to read, but can cover some heavy subjects, although the author has written them in a compassionate and considerate way, which makes it more enjoyable and manageable to read. Reading about Millicent's (Missy's) story was truly heartwarming tale about an old woman and her experience with loneliness and finding friends again at seventy nine. Although there were many downs in this book, they almost seemed to all have a happy solution, and if they didn't, then it was written in more of a life lesson way, rather than a problem and solutions sort of way. My favourite storyline of Missy's was her finding a connection with her daughter Melanie, who she'd never really cared about, but then treater her as her friend.
