This book was such a lovely read, and written very well. Saving Missy is about a 79 year old woman, who is portrayed as a lovable character from the offset, and who is lonely. The story describes how Missy comes to finds herself with new friends and a dog, Bobby, who basically saves her life.
I found the book very clever in that the reader is led to believe that Leo, Missy's husband, has passed, when in fact this is not the case.
I did find the ending (Bobby's accident) slightly predictable, and felt this could have been done differently to get the reader's sympathy; however, it was definitely heartbreaking to find Missy in uncertain and lonely circumstances once again.
I would have liked to see Missy's son appear sometime near the end, as it seemed like his and his families presence was still missing from her life.
This was a truly lovely read, and very enjoyable, and I would recommend this to anyone wanting a comforting book about life, friendship and loss.
