It took me a while to get through this book. I felt it difficult to connect with Missy straight away which made it difficult to relate. However, as the story progressed and you got to know Missy more, her personality became clear.
The bond between Missy and Bobby was so heartwarming and one of my favourite things about the whole book.
Found family is also strong within this book which I love so much. It’s one of my favourite tropes. I appreciated the flashbacks of memories from Missy’s childhood and the impact it made on the understanding of Missy’s character.

The ending was satisfying apart from *SPOILER* the death of Bobby. The dog lover in me hated this and considered it unnecessary to the story. However, it was clear this loss was needed for Missy to grow even more.

Although it took me a while to get in to this book I would ultimately recommend it to those who are interested in a slow and heartwarming story.
