Saving Missy is a beautifully touching tale of love, loss and loneliness. It centres around Missy Carmichael, a seventy-nine year old lady living a solitary life in her big empty house, she's set in her ways and her life is so uneventful that she struggles to find things to write about in her emails to her son in Australia. One day a chance encounter in the local park sets off a chain of events that change Missy's life and open her up to new experiences and friendships with an eclectic bunch of characters that help her to reevaluate and revitalise her life. Through flashbacks you learn more about Missy's past, there are some surprises along the way and definitely some 'lump in the throat' moments. I thoroughly enjoyed following Missy's journey, she's a wonderful character and her story is relatable, funny, heartwarming and uplifting.
