As a first novel goes, this was quite good. It centres around a group of characters, some arguably more difficult than others.

The things I like about this book: well, I enjoyed the characters and the plot. There’s a good story behind it that is relatable and enjoyable. I also liked the writing style - it felt very friendly and informal and a book in which calls to you rather than yells at you. It was an easy read, perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

The things I wasn’t a massive fan of: it was an obvious plot that we have read before and we will read again in the future. At some points I felt like it wasn’t really going anywhere and the emotions and thoughts, in particular, could be developed much further.

Overall, I did enjoy the book, it was a quick and easy read. But it wasn’t anything new or something that hadn’t been done before. I applaud it as a debut though.
