A beautiful, heart rending story beautifully written.
Saving Missy was given to me as a present a year ago when it was first published. I enjoyed reading it then and I have enjoyed reading it a second time again now in order to refresh my memory before writing my review.
I love all the characters in this book, especially Missy who experiences such life changing events in her eightieth year. Estranged from her daughter, Mel, and physically separated from her son and beloved grandson who live in Australia, she reluctantly agrees to temporarily look after a dog, Bob, who needs a new home. This leads to her meeting fellow dog walkers and making new friends and having new experiences.
She leads a full and interesting life, gradually coming to terms with issues in her past, until a year later her life falls apart again.
This book is guaranteed to make the reader laugh and cry. It sensitively deals with an issue which touches nearly every family nowadays. The denouement is totally unexpected. I love everything about this book.
