I loved this book. It follows a lonely older woman trying to get through life after the death of her husband. It is very beautifully written and the amount of description of the main character’s thoughts and feelings help the reader to connect with her. The story seems to be uplifting and full of hope... until a heartbreaking scene near the end of the book which I did shed a tear or two over.... but the mostly happy ending helped me get over this! There is also a bit of a twist in the story which I didn’t expect.
I found it nice that the Missy’s relationship with her husband wasn’t depicted as perfect as relationships often are in books and there were lots of parts which I felt I could relate to in my own life.
I would definitely recommend this book if you are looking for something cosy to read on a rainy afternoon. It is uplifting but not cheesy or romantic and I felt like I took away some good life lessons from it.
