Saving Missy is the story of Millicent, a 79 woman who has recently lost her partner of over 50 years. Millicent (or Missy) is thrusted in to an intense lonliness, with very little confidance and we the reader follow her journey over the next 1-2 years.
The book skips back in time, where we learn stories from Missys childhood, college years and marriage. It becomes apparent to the reader that Missy was a devoted daughter, and then wife. She spent her years bringing up her children, then caring for her husband.
The book did have me in tears toward the end, it had some real sadness and some really beautiful moments. I do not wish to spoil the story so i shall not say any more on this...
Reading this book has made me very concious of those around me, its made me want to be kinder and more generous. You never really know what somebody is going through.
I think this book is more for female readers aged 30+ , its not a heavy read at all, but it does have some mature themes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend.
