Saving Missy by Beth Morrey defies the rumour that old folks cannot be fun.

In this book, Millicent Carmichael is in England, plagued by her feelings of her past - Leo, her daughter, her son - riddled with emotions. There is a lot of action in this book but also some pages that drone on a little (hence the loss of a star). Missy picks up some unlikely friends, and soon becomes know through the town, and the townspeople help her through her life. Missy breaks free of the metaphorical restraints of emotions with the love and support of the people.

I love Morrey’s style as she uses a nice balance of speech and description, with the characters coming to life, the loss, the love, and the friendship app coming together to make it the perfect book - with a bittersweet ending. Morrey laces the book with Classics - Greek to be exact - and I love classics so this was a brilliant read for me.

I hope to read another of her books! This story was absolutely amazing!
