My first impression is of a well written novel with natural-sounding dialogue and flowing descriptive writing creating a great sense of place, and presenting likeable lead characters . However the subject matter does not really seem to offer anything new or particularly original and this is reflected in the cover which could be a crime scene in virtually any part of the world.
