Ben Wade moved his family to peaceful Santa Elena from a violent Los Angeles and hoped to save his marriage whilst doing so. As a detective in the local police department his hours are fluid and he spends as much time as possible with his daughter.
All that peace is now at an end as what appears to be a Serial Killer is stalking the small, suburban towns off Route 1.
Nice to see a new novel set in an earlier time frame of the 1980s. Be interesting to see the procedural set up based on this as forensic science was only in it's infancy at this time.
Relatively good start to the book and I sincerely hope all the scene setting and reminisces of Detective Wade is now completed and the story arc can commence in earnest. The introduction from the perpetrators perspective was engrossing and I am crossing my fingers that it picks back up in that vein.
