This book lived up to my expectations having already read the first 30 pages and given a first look review.
There were two parallel storylines running through this book both of which were told with enough suspense to keep you reading.
The first one being about the shadow man serial killer who was a very intriguing character straight from the start who has a disturbing past and the second about the detective Ben who also has a problem childhood experience that he has to deal with. The two are very cleverly tied together, keep you turning the pages and also reach a satisfying conclusion.
The descriptive writing about the quiet backwater town where 'nothing ever happens', works really well and also that of Ben's relationship and subsequent problems with his wife and daughter which I found were necessary for the story andunderstanding the character.
I look forward to reading more of Alan Drew's work in the future.
