I thought this would be very bleak, boring, and a chore to read.

However, I was proved wrong!

It’s a very readable account of Michael’s life and how he idolised his father, despite his fearsome reputation.

The setting is well described and you can really picture young Michael going with his dad to the barbershop.

I enjoyed what I read, but I’m not sure the religion part will be for me.

I would still be interested in reading more of this book.
