Michael Emmett's biography, Sins of Fathers, was an excellent and quick read which revealed the devastating impact that crime can have upon an individual, as well as those around them.

In the book, the reader is taken on a journey through Michael's life of crime and discovery, beginning before his birth with the story of his parents, particularly his father's life of crime, and the world that Michael is born into. We follow Michael through childhood and adolescence, where the seed of his criminal future is sown, and into full-grown adulthood and the criminal activity which he carried out for many years. We follow his journey in and out of prison, and learn about his first encounter with God and Christianity which takes place during a stint in prison. Michael shares his stories of being involved with Alpha in Prisons, a charity which helps to bring religion into prisons around the world, and help prisoners find God. Ultimately, religion helps Michael to turn his life around and turn his back on crime for the final time.

This is a well-written and fast-paced book with one core message at its heart. Even in the darkest times, you are never alone.
