Firstly thank you to Readers First for giving me the opportunity to read this book and was glad of the chance to read something a little different from my usual books.

This book provides a very insightful memoir into the life of Michael Emnett. The book is written from his perspective and is an insightful and honest account. Emmett discusses his life in detail from childhood to adulthood and recounts his life in crime, his family relationships especially with his Father, his time spend in prison, his road to redemption and his discovery and devotion to church.

This book is very honest and did provide me with a real sense that there is hope at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes when life is tough, or something doesn't work out the way you expected it to, there is a way and it is not necessarily a failure, but just a bump in the road. These ideas were explored through out his memoir but felt they really came to light in the Epilogue. Here, there was a real sense of who Emmett was and who he is today as well as how he found peace with himself and rekindled love and happiness.

Although I enjoyed reading this book, I did feel the writing style was a little off. At times I felt I was drifting off and was finding it hard to focus. Some of the sentences appeared not to make sense and felt that in parts the memoir didn't flow as coherently as it could have done.

However, this is an insightful read and would recommend to anyone interested in memoirs, specifically those on crime and redemption.
