Lacks depth, but is still a good read

Sins of fathers is a typical book about a criminal who turns his life around after finding God in prison. I was hoping to find out what would make this book stand out from the rest, but did not really find it. What I did find was that criminals are complex. We often deem them as one dimensional, whereas Michael demonstrates that there are numerous complexities. He is a former hardened criminal who is not afraid to show his weak side.

What I felt was that the book was less about his life as a criminal and more about his various relationships. Whether that is family relationships or those he has with notorious criminals, including the Kray twins. However, the book lacks depth though not exploring Michael's full relationship and experience with some of them. It would have been interesting to know how they become involved with each other and their influences.

It is a good book for those interested in crime, just do not expect anything novel. I also think it is a good book for those involved in crime and wanting to turn their life around. It shows that it can be done.
