This book is definitely something that I need to read. The first few pages had me hooked.
The aspect of this excerpt that I really enjoyed was the magic. The way that the magic is described is amazing and I feel it truly brings the character's world to life. It has the ability to be different from the magic of other books while still feeling familiar enough to us readers.
I think that the characters are established wonderfully and feel that the character development will be just as good as in these establishing pages. It's nice to have a main character that seemingly isn't as 'macho' and 'hero-like' as most main characters in fantasy stories.
I'm very interested in seeing where this story goes.
