I read this book a while ago but it stuck with me as a little different from other YA fantasy books I have read.
I liked the magic system and found it to be very interesting and well thought out and the main characters were engaging and entertaining.
But I found the pace and writing style a little hard going even if the world building was good.
I think I enjoyed the opening few chapters most and the first few pages in particular were really great.
I would read the follow on books but I would stop what I am currently reading to do so.
I do feel that the cover of the book is excellent and really draws you in. It was the cover in fact that made me buy this book.
I'd give it a solid three stars.
