I like both the cover and the excerpt very much
What first drew me in was the cover of this book. I read the synopsis next and it sounded very interesting. The excerpt was more than I expected. The novel is fast-paced with just the right amount of mystery, intrigue and magic.
The main character, Kellen is ambitious and brilliant and despite not having any magic, he has found a way to defeat his counterparts while making it seem like he has magic.
I liked the setting of the book which seems to be in the desert and I like how terms were explained without confusing readers and without exposing more than should be exposed.
Also, the characters are not so many that a reader mixes them up and mistakes one for the other.
I hope to read more of it.
