I've read this book twice, so I feel like I'm in a good position to write a decent review. This book came so highly recommended by my favourite BookTuber, so I just HAD to give it a go. The first time round, I read this book physically, and I did find myself getting a little bored. I rated the book 3/5 stars because it did entertain me, but it wasn't the best book I'd ever read.
YA fantasy is definitely a genre I was starting to read more of, and I definitely think this book helped me into the genre. I liked the magic system in this world because it felt very unique, but it did confuse me a little.
The second time round, I listened to this book on audio. I felt like I engaged with the characters much more this way, and understood the plot a lot better.
I would recommend this book for readers who are looking for an introduction to the YA fantasy genre, as I feel like even though it is a brand new world, and idea of magic, it is very easy to get into.
