I received a copy of this book from Readers First.

I quite enjoyed this book, it interested me but I didn't really get fully into it until I'd almost hit the halfway point, it's not because the first bit is boring or uninteresting because it's not! It's just I really enjoyed the action that happened in the book than the events that lead up to there. I was worried to begin with that I wasn't going to like this book at all in the first couple of chapters but I'm glad that I did because it's intriguing and I like the way that magic is in this book and the different types of elements that are used. The only thing that I honestly hated with this book is how much the word 'kid' was used I mean it's alright ever now and then but I just didn't like it very much but that's all.

I do love the cover for this book it is amazing and it's definitely something different than the covers that you usually see, the art for it is gorgeous! The cover for the next book is just as good as well!

I finished this book in a day because once I really got into it, I didn't want to put it down and it was a fast paced book. The main thing that made me want this book was because of the mention of the squirrel cat, and I wasn't let down, I love the squirrel cat, he's my favourite character and I love his sarcasm and the way he loves a fight and I want one myself!

I'm excited for the second book in this series - Shadowblack which is actually out this October so I don't have to wait an entire year to know what happens!!
