I already can't wait for the next book in this series! Often with the first book, the author spends so long on the set up that the story suffers, but not with Spellslinger. Kellen is our hero, but with a difference. Growing up as part of the Jan'tep clan of mages, he is the son of a powerful mage but his own powers are non existent. There are so many books where the main character is the 'special one' - not here. Kellen is the ordinary boy amongst people with great powers.
I'm excited to see what will happen next in this strange partnership between Kellen and Ferius, the strange traveller who helps him. If I have a complaint, it is that I would have liked to know her better, but I presume that in subsequent books that will happen.
