Unlike many other readers, I wasn't really a fan of this book. The summary sounded so interesting that I had to pick it up, however I was quite disappointed when reading it.

While the idea was interesting, I found the whole thing to be less than believable and although some humour was thrown in there occasionally, it often wasn't so funny at all - not to me, anyway.

The story follows a guy named Kellen who is "moments away from facing his first mage's duel". He has to undergo four trials that are supposed to make him a spellcaster. The problem of the story is that his magic is gone, meaning he can't participate in the duel or undergo the four trials.
He meets friends along the way to trying to get his powers back. I didn't enjoy this, but many others did so maybe it's worth trying out after all?
