This book is an incredible start for an incredible series of books. the characters are rich and vibrant while not overpowering the somewhat dark and sinister tones to the plot. The plot in general is incredibly deep and complex whilst still being easy to follow and enjoy. The overall tone of the book is very cohesive and allows the reader to be transported to the fictional realm without having to try too hard to get there. Whilst little effort is needed to enjoy the books, there is an element of give and take with this novel. The more you read the more you enjoy. I would say this is a binge book not a little and often book. I tried reading it in chunks and found that when I gave in and read chapter after chapter I was enjoying it much more as it took less time to get warmed up again.
The cover is excellent and aesthetically pleasing while also remaining true to the contents.
