Some things never change.

STAGs may have a new set of teachers, but the old traditions haven't died. Which is good news for the reader, because this second novel in the series appears to explore the same themes of social mobility and class identity that were raised in book one.

The inclusion of a Ben Jonson play has me hooked. Jonson was a social satirist, and The Isle Of The Dogs led to his arrest. His plays and poetry explore class identity in a way which challenged the conventions of his era, and I am looking forward to finding out how this links to the plot.

The idea that Henry de Warlencourt might be alive didn't surprise me, but it will be a huge emotional challenge for the main characters and I wonder what will happen next. I can't imagine the de Warlencourt family allowing what happened in book one to go unchallenged.

I devoured book one, raved about it in my reviews, and now I am excited about book two.
