The cover image is a bit too green and leafy for my liking and I feel that it could better reflect the picture-perfect neighbourhood referred to in the synopsis.
The synopsis is rather uninspiring and it doesn't make the book sound very original.
The extract reads like a young adult novel even though it isn't marketed as such. The writing style feels both blunt and melodramatic and I didn't really gel with it.
I love thriller/suspense books so I'm always on the look out for new books in this genre but I can't say that this first impression is appealing.
