Mixed feelings!
I have mixed feelings about this one unfortunately! Let me start with the positives…
This is such an easy book to read! I think I posted about 15730983 stories saying this - I literally flew threw it.
The last 25% was SO GOOD! It was really atmospheric, twisty and addictive. But having said that…
The first 75% of the novel is so slow! You do learn a lot more about the characters, but not much happens. It did feel like it was dragging a lot, but because it was so easy to read, I got through it relatively quickly.
I loved Ruby as a character and I wish we got her PoV! She was fascinating, but I found Harper to be a little bit bland. The final perpetrator was slightly predictable, but the storyline is highly creative.
If the first 3/4 were a bit more pacy, I definitely would have rated it higher. However, I didn’t put the book down so I obviously really enjoyed it!
Like I said, I just have mixed feelings: I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it - I just liked it.
I don’t think I could class this as a thriller because of how much of a slow-burn it is. Perhaps labelling it a mystery novel is more appropriate?
