#SuchAQuietPlace
By Megan Miranda

I’ve read a few Megan Miranda books now and although I’ve relatively enjoyed them, her latest “Such a Quiet Place” is my favourite to date. I loved the simplicity of the story, nothing complicated but kept me entertained and turning the pages with interest.
When Ruby Fletcher returns to Hollow’s Edge after having her conviction for murder overturned, the neighbourhood community is in shock. Ruby has been in jail for fourteen months, accused of the murder of neighbours Brandon and Fiona Truett. Now, freed by mistrial, Ruby returns to her housemate Harper Nash’s home. When it becomes clear the neighbours were not quite as honest as first thought regarding the night the Truett’s died, the residents are terrified when anonymous threatening letters start arriving. Harper decides she must uncover the truth before someone gets hurt.
Megan writes character driven stories, often with a slow burn feel but you always feel invested in the actual story. It’s sometimes difficult to endear to her characters, I don’t feel there is enough depth in the characterisations, in particular the main protagonists. On this occasion I would have liked more information about Ruby but the story flowed and kept my attention throughout.
A decent story and I will continue to read more by this author again in the future.
