I was really disappointed in this book. The premise was brilliant. The blurb, cover and first impression captivating.

And then it all went down hill from there.

There's a lot to be said for the premise of the book, and the ending was genuinely a surprise.

Unfortunately it is let down by the poor character's and the general tone, dialogue and lack of connection.

I genuinely couldn't care less about any of the characters in this book, they all fell flat, and so much time was spent belaboring points and relationships, trying to stoke tension and suspense where none was to be had.

Ruby, the released murder suspect, was portrayed by other characters as some kind of master manipulator, but in her own scenes just seemed petty and shallow.

The hollows Edge neighbourhood almost contained too many people, and none of them or their motivations were really explained beyond the repitition of hatred of Ruby and weird group psychology.

The 'big reveal' at the end was a surprise but still felt rushed, and it reached a point where they could all have murdered people as some cult and I still wouldn't have cared.

Overall I was quite disappointed reading a book that from a first look I should have loved, but definitely didn't.
