Although slow to start, Such a Quiet Place is a thrilling and unnerving tale of a close-knit community, studying a selection of neighbours, each of whom are harbouring their own secrets.

Harper, the narrator, is likeable and vulnerable, and her personality contrasts hugely with that of her loud and confident roommate Ruby. As Harper reveals the web that has been woven, we as the reader question each character, their actions and motivations, alongside her.

The setting itself plays as much a part as the characters, the isolated town being atypical of a quiet, calm neighbourhood, with the reality being anything but. The writing style is emotive and captivating and there were times when I was reading where I felt unnerved myself along with Harper. I thoroughly enjoyed my read, finishing this in two days, even if the ending was slightly lackluster.
