To be honest I found the writing rather jerky in style - lots of short sentences, some just fragments. Also my first impression of the narrator was of arrogance and a rather disparaging attitude towards the female characters. I appreciate this may be the character the author is trying to create and could change as the book progresses but on the basis of the excerpt I not sure I'd want to hear this character's thoughts for an entire book.
