When I first saw The Ash Doll I was unsure what I'd think about it but it sounded like an intriguing story. It took me a while to get into the story but I was really enjoying the book and the further I got into the book the more I didn't want to put it down.
I liked the character of Charlie and wanted him to do well in his case and enjoyed reading the court scenes which was the aspect of the book I was unsure about as there were lots of twists and turns throughout. I was glad to see there weren't many court scenes though as I think I'd have got fed up if there were too many.
As I got to the end of the book I couldn't put the book down. I was surprised to see that some of the characters weren't all as they seemed in the beginning.
Having not read a James Hazel book before I was not disappointed and would definitely read more of his books in the future, it was a great read.
