Bit disappointed!
I was really looking forward to reading this second novel by James Hazel, as I had read The Mayfly and really enjoyed it but I was quite disappointed. I struggled to get into the story as I found that the storyline was not as engaging as The Mayfly, and felt really drawn out.
However, as with the first novel, I really enjoyed the characters, especially. Charlie Priest, you cannot help but admiring him and how he copes with his impairement. I also enjoyed the character of his assistant, Georgie, and her unconventional living situation, neither Charlie or Georgie are your run of the mill character in a mystery novel. Adding into the mix, William, Charlie’s serial killer brother and it makes for a different read.
Despite not enjoying this novel as much as the previous one, I would still read any further books by this author.
