Eerie, spooky, page turning, wish I had read The Mayfly beforehand, but The Ash Doll is a great follow up, even if you haven't read the first book. Charlie Priest is once again in the middle of a crime, which he is prepared to do anything to solve. He has enlisted the help from his partner in crime Georgie, and together they manage to finally solve the case before it's too late. Both characters have their own hidden agendas which crop up here and there throughout the book, and you get a hint that they may well evolve into a story of their own at some point. Charlie's brother William, is locked up in a physiciatric ward for being a serial killer, which was exposed in The Mayfly, however Charlie still keeps a line of contact with him, almost like a aide to the case. Lots of twists and turns in this one, and a great ending, setting it up for no doubt a follow on book.
