The Assassin of Verona is the second book by Benet Brandreth in the William Shakespeare series.

Shakespeare is in Italy disguised as a steward to the English Ambassador and with his friends he holds information that would be crucial to England and the reign of Queen Elizabeth.

There are a multitude of plots throughout the book as Shakespeare and his companions try to stay away from the Pope's Agents and the book moves along at a decent pace.

The Shakespearean language used does take a little bit of getting used to but this does not detract from the story telling. In fact it seems to add to it.

Overall the book is very well written with a good underlying story and one that I enjoyed reading
