I received this book from the publisher via Readers First in exchange for an honest review. Thanks goes to both the publisher and Readers First for the chance. This in NO way effects my opinion on the book.

The Assassin of Verona is book two in the William Shakespeare novel series by Benet Brandreth. It follows the adventures of Shakespeare and his friends as they flee the pope because they know the names of the catholic spies whom want Elizabeth I dead. The finding out of the spies names and such happen in book one - The Spy of Venice, which unfortunately I haven't read so the beginning of this book was a bit "whoosh!".

I absolutely adored the book! Shakespeare is represented so roguishly and charming and I instantly fell in love with his character. As a Shakespeare fan it wasn't hard really. The settings are beautifully described and I felt whisked to Elizabethan Verona myself.

I think this is a book you ideally need to have read book one of before reading for it to make the fullest sense and flow, but it's a very interesting read regardless of whether you have read the other or not. I shall definitely myself be searching for book one and hope to see many more books in the series in future!

Overall, I was very impressed! A wonderful and thrilling adventure with lots of rogues and sass. Highly recommended.
