This is a very original idea from the author and I'm impressed. The extract is very well written and the pace was suitable. There are many questions that arise and it makes you want to read on to get an explanation of this world and this unusual arrangement. Right towards the end of this extract we see the effect this compulsory arrangement can have on the victims. How can it possibly benefit the victims? We would have to read on to find out. I am also impressed with the representation of disability, evident already in the first few pages. The cover is suitable for the genre. I am keen to read on to find out just what happens.
