When I first read the blurb I thought this book sounded amazing and my initial assumption of who and why someone was being held in the cage, and the reality was much more exciting and unique.
Readers learn that Hannah's husband was a police officer and that was murdered. The offender was convicted and is now serving the rest of his sentence in a cell but not like we know it now, he is inside a cell in Hannah's home (obviously lots of security measures in place!).
Over time together, their relationship evolves and Jem keeps insisting about his innocence. Hannah finds out things about her late husband and then come the questions of is Jem saying what he needs to or is he innocent.
I loved this book. I love dystopia and I love thrillers. This has it all. It is such an original concept and it so well written. I like hearing from both sides and I was engaged and engrossed throughout. This is a definite must read and I will look for more by this author.
