I've read the book in two days, I think it would be right to call it hard to put down! It's got this amazing power of reeling you in, keeping you gripped and needing to know more. The captive is a story of Hannah whose husband dies and due to new laws she has to keep the convict in a cell in her house. Even after a long trial and all the evidence against him the prisoner , Jem, still claims that he is innocent. Hannah notices other things that don't add up which leads her on her own investigation. She comes across many facts about her late husband that don't paint him in a good light and discovers the past if her inmate too. The Captive is a very clever , pacy and gripping story dealing with many topics, crime and punshment, prison system, forgiveness and many more. Truly a great read cannot wait for it to be made into a film as it really had got the potential !
